  163.  [C] - All  other  files  will be created by the main programmes.  No other
  164.        files  need  be  changed.   The  files  created,  other  than   your
  165.        Bulletin(s), will be in the sub-directory KITTY.

  168.  [D] - The KITTYCAT! package you are receiving includes KITTEN!  This is an
  169.        ACTIVITY.LOG  "Scrubber".  It will remove any entries you desire not
  170.        to  retain in your log, ie. Sysop logging on locally, fake names the
  171.        Sysop  uses to check the system, people who are no longer members of
  172.        the  board  and  you  do not want to have them counted in the stats.

  174.        KITTEN!  creates a file named "SCRUB1.LST".  This file is similar to
  175.        "DELOG3.LST"  but  they  are <<NOT>> the same!  KITTEN! renames your
  176.        file  "ACTIVITY.LOG" to "ACTIVITY.OLD" (which is for your reference)
  177.        and writes a new "ACTIVITY.LOG" deleting the entries you specified.

  179.        NOTE: If  you  enter a name as "John", <ALL> entries that start with
  180.              the name "John" will be deleted!  Enter the name as it appears
  181.              in  your  ACTIVITY.LOG.   The reasoning behind this is that if
  182.              you have an entry that you want to delete and the name appears
  183.              as   "P73&^*D(/#$KW*(&*7\:'TYI8754%^%)$#!T&7JL@#$%^&*FG",  you
  184.              need only enter the first 5 or so characters.

  188.  [E] - To  start  any  programme  in  KITTYCAT!,  (after  reading  the file
  189.        "README.NOW"), first type:

  193.        Then everything will fall into place and you are on your way.

  196.  [F] - KITTYCAT!  has  been  used  on an ACTIVITY.LOG up to 836K, over 1623
  197.        calls,  and  over  376  Users.  It is designed for use on a rotating
  198.        monthly basis however you may use it otherwise.

  201.  [G] - WAMPUSCAT!,  is a utility that makes possible the posting of CURRENT
  202.        and  CUMULATIVE  User statistics.  It is included in your registered
  203.        package.   Brief  example  of  what WAMPUSCAT! does:
  204.  
  205.        Let us say you have a very large ACTIVITY.LOG and you do not want to
  206.        continue  using  KITTYCAT! to show <ALL> the statistics from umpteen
  207.        weeks  or  months in the past.  You want to start from a week ago or
  208.        the  first  of  the month.  But, you reason that if you do that, the
  209.        Users  statistics  will  start  all over from the date you select to
  210.        begin.

  212.        With  WAMPUSCAT!, you can go into your ACTIVITY.LOG, collect all the
  213.        User  data  (times on, msgs written, U/L's, D/L's, CXR dropped), and
  214.        save  it  to  a  file  named "WAMPUS.DAT".  Then, you may select the
  215.        option  in  KITTYCAT!,  ver. 1.0i, to use this data.  KITTYCAT! will
  216.        proceed  to  list  the  Users  CURRENT  statistics first, then write
  217.        another  list  with  all  their past stats (or lack thereof...) in a
  218.        CUMULATIVE  listing.  the CUMULATIVE list will <INCLUDE> the current
  219.        stats  so  you and the User will see where they stand at the present
  220.        time (CURRENT) and their grand total (CUMULATIVE).

  222.        The  DELETE  option  allows  you to remove any Users from the WAMPUS
  223.        database file.  It merely asks you for the names you wish to delete,
  224.        reads the file, removes the "dead wood", and rewrites the file..
  225.  
  226.        Using  WAMPUSCAT!,  you  no  longer  need to "file 13" your Activity
  227.        Logs.
  228.

  230.        Example of how to use WAMPUSCAT!:
  231.  
  232.        The  ACTIVITY.LOG  at  Duffey's Tavern last started on 30-Jun-87.  I
  233.        ran  WAMPUSCAT!,  selected  the  <CREATE>  option, and at the prompt
  234.        entered the "start date" as 06/30/87 and the "end date" as 07/31/87.
  235.        WAMPUSCAT!  then  created  a data file which contained the User Data
  236.        for that date frame.
  237.  
  238.        I then ran KITCON.EXE and entered 08/01/87 for the start date.  As I
  239.        run  KITTYCAT!  as  an <EVENT>, I entered 08/31/87 for the end date.
  240.        (KITTYCAT!  automatically  uses the last date in the Activity Log as
  241.        the  end  date  when  run  as  an  EVENT).

  243.        KITTYCAT! runs and after posting the <CURRENT> User stats, brings in
  244.        the  data  that  WAMPUSCAT!  had previously gathered and collates it
  245.        with the current stats and produces a <CUMULATIVE> User Stats list.

  247.        In  this  fashion,  my  Users  and  myself are always aware of total
  248.        activity.
  249.  
  250.        On the 1st of September, I ran WAMPUSCAT! again, this time selecting
  251.        the <ADD> option.  I used 08/01/87 for the "start date" and 08/31/87
  252.        as  the  "end date"  and WAMPUSCAT! scanned the Activity Log between
  253.        those dates, collected the data, then ADDED it to the previous data.

  255.        Now  my  data  file  contained  the  User  data  from  06/30/87 thru
  256.        08/31/87.   Running  KITCON.EXE  now,  I  have  the  "start date" as
  257.        09/01/87  and  the "end date" as 09/30/87.  I have a current monthly
  258.        statistical posting together with a current AND cumulative User stat
  259.        posting.

  262.  [H] - Included in this package are the menu, main programme w/config file
  263.        and 9 utilities:

  265.        MENU - <ALL> programmes and utilities run from the MENU!

  267.               (only exception is KITCAT*.***  which may be run from the
  268.                menu OR as an event.  KITCAT*.***  MUST FIRST BE CONFIGURED
  269.                FROM THE MENU!)

  271.        WHISKER1 - reads  the DELOG3.LST created by KITTYCAT! and shows you
  272.         which files have been downloaded and how many times.

  274.        WHISKER2 - will  search  your  Activity  Log and find which files a
  275.         certain User has downloaded and how many times and will then write
  276.         a "USERxx.BBS" bulletin for you.

  282.        PEEKCAT! - will  search your activity log for any User and give you
  283.         a  report (monitor/disk/printer) in any of 3 categories; messages,
  284.         files U/L'd and D/L'd, or total activity on each call.

  288.        CALICO! - gives you the total picture on your Users.

  290.        TOMCAT! - checks your libraries/disk directories.  Gives a report on
  291.         total files and any discrepancies.  Searches for specific file.  Also
  292.         will move files from one directory to another to match your library.

  294.        KITCON - the  configuration programme for KITTYCAT!  Creates KC.PRM
  295.         which is the parameter file for KITCAT1.EXE.

  297.        KITCAT1 - KITTYCAT!,  the most versatile of any system analyzer for
  298.         "WILDCAT!" Bulletin Board Systems.
